2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship 26.8 miles from BioRC Central Command

It’s kind of hard to ignore March Madness around here. So we won’t. And in the spirit of being totally obvious on a day when the storylines are clearer than a bottle of Michigan’s own Absopure natural spring water (“The Hydration Drink!”)Michigan State University, standing in for bedraggled Detroit, looking to slay the University of North Carolina goliath in what basically amounts to their hometown with East Lansing just 92 miles away from Ford Field — we offer a list of folks in Biography Resource Center who have biographies that reference both institutions of higher learning. No clue who they’ll be rooting for. Us? Well, you know. We’re unbiased. Yep. Totally unbiased — it’s how we keep our content so authoritative and trustworthy. No bias here. None whatsoever.

  • Robert H. Cleland — US District Court judge; BA from MSU (1969); JD from UNC (1972)
  • Jackie Ferrara — sculptor; attended MSU (1950); exhibition at UNC (1983)
  • Elson S. Floyd — president of Washington State University; BA, MA, and PhD from UNC; coordinated with MSU as president of Western Michigan University to join the Michigan life-sciences research corridor
  • William Pitt Root — poet; MFA from UNC-Greensboro (1967); assistant professor of English at MSU (1967-68)
  • Sam J. Underwood — author; AB and MeD from UNC; PhD from MSU
  • James Worthy — basketball player; attended UNC; considered MSU

By the way, we have 13 Roy Williamses available across the core BioRC collection, Marquis Who’s Who add-on module, and Lives & Perspectives Collection add-on module, from Roy Williams, aviation director (CH2M Hill, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, Salt Lake City International Airport), to Roy Williams, Esq, OBE, playwright, to Roy Williams, UNC basketball coach.

Shockingly, we have only a single, solitary Tom Izzo. He coaches MSU. Although if you want to split hairs, we also have Thomas J. Izzo, former Rhode Island State Senator.
