The error of the preening duck obviously was that he did not play the ukulele

Warren Buffett has brought many pearls of wisdom to the masses, including the parable of the preening duck, but he also counts the ukulele as the musical instrument embodiment of his philosophies of life and finance.

Ukuleles are popping up all over the place. A ukulele festival is being held in Brooklyn next month. The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain is touring Europe. There is a Ukulele Hall of Fame Museum (online only, it seems). Not to be outdone, we feel it is important that you know that Biography Resource Center stands behind the ukulele as well.

An Advanced Search for “ukulele” yields 97 narrative biographies for such individuals as author Larry Duplechan, triphop outfit Portishead, actor Bret McKenzie, graphic novelist R. Kikuo Johnson, soul singer Donny Hathaway, Barbie creator Ruth Handler, film writer and director Billy Wilder and jazz great John Coltrane. (Yeah, yeah — Tiny Tim shows up, too, not to mention Johnny Carson.)

Name Search is also fruitful, resulting in biographies for Cliff Edwards, who was also known as Ukulele Ike. You might remember him as the singer of “When You Wish Upon a Star” in Pinocchio.
