Our Olympics celebration begins!

Herschel Walker, Renaissance man

Herschel Walker, Renaissance man

The 2010 Winter Olympics, being held in Vancouver, BC, are a mere three days away. Biography Resource Center will be celebrating the XXI Winter Games (as well as African American History month) throughout the competition dates. We’ve already begun with a Spotlight available on the front page of the database celebrating NFL great Herschel Walker. What does Walker have to do with the Winter Olympics, you ask? Plenty! In addition to his new status as an MMA fighter (he won his first cage match last month), the 1982 Heisman trophy winner was actually part of the Team USA two-man bobsled team at the 1992 Games at Albertville, France.

Is there anything this guy can’t do? No, seriously: Is there? Check out his 2008 autobiography about his struggle with dissociative identity disorder. He has performed with the Fort Worth Ballet. He appeared on Celebrity Apprentice. His stamina and breadth of activity is humbling.

We eagerly await his appointment to the new summer triathlon involving surfing, motocross and hot dog-eating. We’re certain he will, for lack of a better term, BRING IT.
