A tragedy for Poland

We have interrupted our April run of rhymes-with-orangeery Spotlights in order to focus on Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who perished along with 95 others — including Poland’s First Lady and many other government and military officials — this past weekend in a plane crash in Western Russia. Kaczynski was on his way to a memorial for the massacre at Katyn, in which Polish POWs were executed 70 years ago by Stalin’s NKVD. Two narrative biographies on Kaczynski are available in Biography Resource Center.

Beverly Cleary will be back in a few days.
