Civil rights pioneer Dorothy Height has passed away

We once again interrupt the month of Apreery to focus on the passing of a civil rights legend with the Biography Resource Center Spotlight. American civil rights activist Dorothy I. Height (1912-2010) united religion and community to promote the advancement of African Americans. A 2004 recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal, Height served as president of the National Council of Negro Women for 40 years. She was committed to defending the rights of women and people of color, with the goal of creating unity among all people. Height died on April 20, 2010, at the age of 98.
