New content added to Biography Resource Center: 5/11/2010

Well, we’re hanging our heads in shame here at Biography Resource Center HQ. We have been entirely remiss in blogging…but only because we’re busy busy busy working on our next-gen version, which will be available later this summer!  Know that even when we’re not writing to you, we’re still thinking about you.  Kiss, kiss!

In the meantime, as always, we are pleased to announce the release of the following content to Biography Resource Center:

  • Contemporary Authors, vol. 291, 292 and 293
  • Contemporary Authors New Revision, vol. 200 and 201
  • Contemporary Theatre, Film and Television, vol. 99 and 100
  • World of Forensic Science
  • World of Sports Science
  • 74 original, contemporary biographies written specifically for Biography Resource Center by our team of subject experts

All told, that’s a whopping 1,542 new biographies now available in Biography Resource Center.

New biographies written by our subject experts that cannot be found in any of our print or electronic book series include: astronomer Rodger Doxsey; man-about-town Kevin Federline; actress January Jones; You Can’t Do That On Television host Les Lye; Mary Outerbridge, the “Mother of Tennis”; Christoph Waltz, who won an Oscar this year for his brilliant performance in Inglorious Basterds; and Thom Yorke, who really needs no introduction (and if he does, well, now you can read his biography).

By customer request, we’re working to beef up our selection of hearing impaired individuals in Biography Resource Center. This will be an ongoing content effort; a few new names to check out are Dummy Hoye, who played 14 seasons in the majors, including five for the Cincinnati Reds, and boxer James “Deaf” Burke, who was a 19th century British boxing champ. Please feel free to follow this librarian’s example! If you see a gap in our coverage, let us know and we’ll work with you to make Biography Resource Center even better.

You can find all of these biographies — and more! —  in Biography Resource Center as of today. Enjoy!
